10/24/02 - GLOCK PISTOL POTENTIAL REAR SLIDE FAILURE
The following safety information is provided in the event anyone owns a Glock Pistol.  Glock, Inc. has provided information that there is a remote possibility of a rear slide rail failure on some of its weapons. This potential failure concerns all models of Glock pistols manufactured from September 2001 through May 2002.  The affected guns generally bear a serial number with an  " E " prefix.  Not all guns manufactured during this time are affected. Any concerned owners of Glock pistols can contact Glock at (866) 225-4098, Ext. 219, to inquire whether their pistol is affected. If a particular Glock pistol is affected by this situation, Glock will furnish instructions on how to return the affected frame for replacement.

10/2/02 - KNIFE ABLE TO ESCAPE DETECTION OF METAL DETECTOR
Submitted by Mark Watts, President, Lodge #64:  Yesterday I came in contact with a spring loaded knife. This knife is made of the same material as the Glock firearm. It has a folding blade approximately 3 inches in length. This knife will pass thru a metal detector without any problems. The knife can be ordered for $12.00 and is currently being advertised by a company by the name of: Blackie Collins, P.O. Box 100, North, South Carolina 29112, 1-800-807-1690.

6/21/02 - SAFETY ALERT: FORD CROWN VICTORIA
Any agency using 1992 through 2001 Ford Crown Victoria:

Ford Motor Company has issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) # 01-21-14 to further reduce the unlikely possibility of a fuel tank puncture during extreme high-speed rear impact collisions.  Investigation of several police vehicles involved in extreme high-speed rear impacts (closing speeds above 80 mph) have identified a potential cause in at least one of these impacts.  The TSB contains recommended actions for vehicles exposed to potential high-speed rear impacts. Agencies should contact their local Ford dealer or the Ford Hotline at 800.34.FLEET.  Ford Motor Company requested this information be disseminated to all law enforcement agencies.  If you need further information on this issue you may contact:
Michigan State Police Vehicle Test Team, Lt. Halliday: 517.322.1787

SAFETY ALERT: LEXIS-NEXIS P-TRAK DATABASE (source: Grand Lodge)

Lexis-Nexis (Legal Exchange Information Service / News Exchange Information Service) maintains an extensive searchable database (called "P-Trak") containing names, home addresses, phone numbers and dates of birth. This information is compiled from legal documents such as purchase contracts (homes, automobiles, etc.) provided to Lexis-Nexis by a national consumer reporting agency. Chances are, if you have purchased a home, car, or any other item requiring a sales contract, your personal information is contained in the P-Trak database, and the information is available to any legal practitioner for a fee. This poses a serious security threat to law enforcement officers, as many outlaw biker groups, militia groups, etc. retain lawyers to represent them, or have lawyers within their ranks who could easily access this information.
Members wishing to have their information removed from the database can access a form for doing so at:
http://www.lexis-nexis.com/lncc/about/removal.htmlSubmitting this form will cause Lexis-Nexis to remove all of the submitter's personal information from their databases. Additionally, they suggest periodic resubmission, as the database is updated quarterly.

Spring-loaded blade is extended by the black button on the side.  WARNING:  Flame may operate like a regular lighter.

10/8/01 - Pen-pistol

Pen-pistols  typically measure just under 6" (with a 2" barrel). One model (the "Stinger") must be folded in half to fire, forming a "handle" to grip, and a "trigger" even drops down where a single round can be fired.  Pen-pistols are available in .25-caliber,  .22LR and .380ACP.
