STATE FOP ISSUES STATEMENT ON PRESIDENT OBAMA’S NOMINIATION OF DEBO ADEGBILE TO THE U.S. COMMISSION ON CIVIL RIGHTS
HARRISBURG, Pa. (Dec. 20, 2016) – Fraternal Order of Police, State Lodge President Les Neri joined FOP Lodge 5 President John McNesby, Senator Pat Toomey and others in their recent outrage following President Obama’s nomination of Debo Adegbile to a six-year term on the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights.
“We are extremely disappointed in the president’s nomination of Debo Adegbile. His nomination is horrid and appalling. This nomination is a slap in the face of the brave men and women in Pennsylvania who put their lives in harm’s way each and every day. To appoint someone to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights who has no regard for the rights of law enforcement is irresponsible.
“You may recall the president tried to nominate Adegbile to the lead the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division in 2014. That nomination was rejected thanks in part to a bipartisan effort.”
